Rising Stars 2024- Ages 6-11 and 12-17

Gisborne's Rising Stars come together to learn all things theatrical. They'll grow skills in acting, coordination, collaboration, teamwork, public speaking, self-confidence, and more!  This year we are once again expanding the program to include more kids and inspire older kids to want to join in the fun!  If your child is 12 years old, they must have completed at least one year of Rising Stars to enroll in the Senior Class.  Classes start 7 February and fill up fast.  Register now!

"The Wizard of Oz and Toto, Too!"
For Kids Ages 6-12

It’s bedtime for Toto’s puppies, but not before they get a story.  And of course, Toto has his own spin on what happened when that twister took them far away from their Kansas farm.

Join Toto and the pups as he tells of his heroic adventures with Dorothy in the wonderful land of Oz.  Along the way they meet Chew Toy, a talkative Scarecrow, Shiny Guy, an overly dramatic Tin Woodman, and Big Cat, a cowardly Lion.  Aided by the hockey-loving Glinda the Good Witch of the North, they must find a way to defeat the one-eyed Wicked Witch of the West and her minions, the flying monkeys.

Thursdays from 3:45pm - 5:15pm starting 8 Feb

Performances will be June 30 - July 3, 2024

"Haphazardly Ever After"
For Kids 12-17

Haphazardly.jpg

A kind king and queen have trouble in their royal family four obnoxious, bratty, adult children who do not live up to their royal titles. There's the mean Princess Cinnamon, the not-so-bright Princess Peppermint, the vain Prince Hairgel and Prince Slacker, who thinks being a prince is just way, way too hard. The king and queen try everything to bring happiness and harmony to their family. They hire a royal therapist, bring in royal teachers and even attempt to marry off their children, all to no avail. The king and queen are ready for a happily-ever-after that doesn t include adult children still living at home, so they call upon the fairy godmother to help. However, after learning the outrageous cost of hiring the fairy godmother (let alone the permits required), the king and queen decide to create a do-it-yourself fairy tale with the help of supplies purchased at The Enchanted Depot. Of course, nothing goes as planned, but everyone is changed by their experiences. And through a series of haphazard events, the royal family just might live happily ever after, after all.
