Rising Stars 2024- Ages 6-17
Gisborne's Rising Stars come together to learn all things theatrical. They'll grow skills in acting, coordination, collaboration, teamwork, public speaking, self-confidence, and more! This year we are once again expanding the program to include more kids and inspire older kids to want to join in the fun! This term we are splitting up the groups once again. Now our classes will serve Primary, Intermediate, and Secondary Students in separate classes.
RISING STARS PRIMARY
Term 3 and 4
"A Christmas Peter Pan"
For Kids Ages 6+
It's Christmas Eve and Tinker Bell summons Wendy, Michael and John to help her save Peter Pan and Santa Claus from terrible Pirates of Captain Hook. Santa Claus has been frozen in the North Pole and can't deliver the presents on Christmas. Out on the frozen tundra Santa's Elves search for their Lost Toys. The children help Peter Pan escape Captain Hook's clutches and suddenly we're off on A Christmas Peter Pan Adventure. Peter leads Tinkerbell, Wendy, Snow Fairies, Christmas Elves and Santa's Lost Toys on a lively fun romp through the North Pole and home again. Just in time for Christmas morning!
Classes are Thursdays from 3:45pm - 5:15pm.
Term 3 will begin 25 July running till the 26th September
Term 4 will begin 17th October
Technical and Dress Rehearsals 5th and 12th December

RISING STARS SECONDARY
Term 3 & 4
"Hamlet and Zombies"
Something is rotting in the state of Denmark, and Hamlet may be the only one who is on to it. With the help of his friend Horatio and cousin Laertes, Hamlet solves the mystery of his mother’s marriage to his uncle, observes his father’s transformation from king to zombie king, saves his love, Ophelia, and fends off both the Norwegians and the zombie hordes. Using Shakespeare’s original rich verse and intricate detail, along with a few contemporary updates, this fun, tongue-in-cheek version of Hamlet is sure to move your heart and eat your brains. This adaptation is perfect for those just learning Shakespeare’s stories and those who are looking for a spooky retelling of one of the Bard’s classics with lots of fun and a little bite.​

RISING STARS INTERMEDIATE
Term 3 & 4
"Aladdin"
In a far off land a Magician seeks the magic lamp from the Cave of Wonders. Only Aladdin and his side-kick cat, Persia, can pass through its doors. From the wondrous lamp the Genie appears, granting Aladdin three wishes and a ride upon a magic carpet. Aladdin longs for the love of the Princess and fights upon to win her hand. Just when it seems all is lost, Aladdin uses his cleverness to trick the evil Magician and save the Sultan's kingdom. At last the Sultan joins Aladdin and the Princess in a joyous marriage. For his final wish Aladdin grants the Genie his freedom and all the kingdom celebrates his victory.​​​
