What's it about?
Comfortably ensconced in his charming Connecticut home, Sidney Bruhl, a successful writer of Broadway thrillers, is struggling to overcome a dry spell which has resulted in a string of failures and a shortage of funds. A possible break in his fortunes occurs when he receives a script from a former student — a thriller that Sidney recognises immediately as a potential Broadway smash. Sidney invites Clifford to his country home to give him some advice on the play, and take a share of the credit and royalties. But is that his real motive?
The play is known as one of the biggest Broadway hits. In Deathtrap, Levin has taken murder, deceit, innocent dialogue with hidden sinister meanings, plot reversals, and unexpected turns of events, and twisted them into a delicious, dangerous puzzle.
